Suck

This campy horror/black comedy has all the hallmarks of a cult classic. Funny & edgy with a great supporting cast. 3.5/5

Bad Teacher

This was surprisingly not sucky. JT really needs acting lessons, but Diaz & Segel were quite funny. Not bad. 3.5/5

Restrepo

I have nothing but respect for these brave men who have faced more death & tyranny than most of us will ever know. 4/5

The Beaver

This is one of the better portraits or mental illness & depression I've seen with a brilliant cast. Transforming. 5/5

A Film Unfinished

What a brutal, horrible, intensely disturbing documentary about the Warsaw ghettos! I doubt I'll sleep now. 5/5

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

What a pale & hollow version of those glorious Swedish thrillers! Doesn't hold a candle. Honestly, after just seeing the originals I wanted to give that a 2.5, but I'm trying to be generous. Mara was NOT good. 3/5

Carnage

The acting was excellent but the plot became more ridiculous & unbelievable by the minute. Why take it so far? Hrmm. 3/5

The 400 Blows

This classic from Truffaut was terribly uneven with moments of brilliance paced with long stretches of average. 3/5

This film had such a great premise & was gorgeously shot but was just too slow & messy for me. Good, not great. 3/5

Adrift

I adore Vincent Cassel so I gave this dreamy film a bit of leeway but it is quite compelling. Good, not great. 3/5

Like Crazy

This was the best acting I've seen in a long while, Yelchin & Jones were infinitely believably. The end was perfect. I think this film will resonate with me & haunt me for quite some time. I can't believe how brilliant the acting was. Wow. 5/5

This British coming-of-age dramedy is quirky & charming but has a very dark bite to it like bitter chocolate. 4/5
