Nobody Walks

The character maps in this are very well detailed but, in the end, it's just more people behaving badly. Meh. 2.5/5

Pina

This is a monumental achievement in directing & cinematography - beautiful & lush & dynamically danced and shot. Amazing. 5/5

Madhouse

This utterly predictable horror/thriller has decent acting which makes the failings all the more tragic. Too bad. 2.5/5

The Deep Blue Sea

How can a film so softly beautiful be so darkly tragic? Amazing acting in an amazing film - lovely. 4/5

Hell and Back Again

Simply the best Afghan war documentary I've yet seen. It seamlessly blends war footage with life at home. Special props to Willie Nelson for singing the title song. This is a must-see for everyone. Awesome film. 5/5

This film is just horrifying, the fact that it is based on actual events even more so. Stanley Milgram indeed. 4/5

Why Stop Now

This comedy has a real dark side to it, one if tapped could have left it tragic. I liked the line it walked. And whoever played piano for Eisenberg is simply brilliant. That was amazing piano. 4/5

Beasts of the Southern Wild

This film is extraordinary on every level. The direction by Behn Zeitlin is exquisite is detail, tone, palette & focus. The script is densely allegorical, obtuse, and really will make you think. And the acting by 8 year old Quvenzhané Wallis is simply astounding and better than 97% of working actresses out there. This is a must-see film if you like things on the surrealist side. Magical. 5/5
