Mud

McConaughey is perfection in this slow-cooked Southern drama that is teased out in a wonderful way. Fantastic film. Not as good as "Southern Wilds" but much in the vein of "Winter's Bone" - definitely overlooked for an Oscar. 4/5

OMG... this is the best film I've seen in a while. Completely gripping, suspenseful, & brilliant. I'm stunned. Michael Shannon gives the performance of his life in this. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for the whole 2 hours. Seriously... watch this and then RENT IT. If you like the trailer you'll LOVE it. 5/5

Out of the 4 McKinnon/Goggins/Blount films, this is the funniest & sharpest - it deserved the Oscar. 4.5/5

ADDED: In case anyone cares, the four collaborations McKinnon, Goggins & Blount have done are "The Accountant", "Chrystal", "Randy and the Mob", and "That Evening Sun". As a film, "That Evening Sun" is my favorite of the 4, but this is damn close & really biting. Good stuff.
