It Follows

The first review of this film on Netflix starts with the sentence 'this is horror'. And it is. This is what true horror is - the endless feeling of suspense, the music that becomes a character in and of itself and creeps you down to the bone, the achingly drawn out shots where you see the danger coming and no one else does, the feeling that you, as the viewer, are trapped in this world as well and will never escape. This is the feeling you got when you watched the first "Halloween", when you saw Hannibal Lecter speak in "Silence of the Lambs", when you stared into the static of the TV in "Poltergeist" and felt trapped yourself.
