By all rights I should have hated this but I surprisingly didn't - I found it a fascinating character study. BTW, this would be a perfect double-feature with Baumbach's "Margot at the Wedding" - both are quite good. 4/5

Tom Cruise is transcendent in this perfectly casted but oddly edited adaption of the hit musical. So much fun. 4/5
