Project Almanac

I really don't get the hate in Netflix reviews for this, as I really enjoyed it. It's tough to do a time travel film that makes sense, and I thought this film was smart and well thought out. Yes, even I rolled my eyes at the found-footage aspect of it, but it really was the only way the story could have been told. The acting was fairly decent as well. As a bonus, there were a few alternate endings and openings on the disc, which I always enjoy. I liked this a lot, I recommend it to time-travel movie fans. 4/5

Terminator: Genisys

Let's get this straight. I'm a Terminator fan. I grew up on The Terminator. T2 was a total game-changer for me. This franchise is a large part of why I'm a sci-fi geek. And I *HATED* "Terminator: Salvation" so bloody much that I thought there would be no coming back from that. I was wrong. This movie is everything I could have wanted in a Terminator sequel. I saw a lot of people reviewing it at Netflix had problems following it, but if you're a true Terminator fan it will all make perfect sense. I honestly didn't find a single flaw in the logic or a hole in the plot. Everything I could have wanted to see was there, every reference, every location, every line of dialogue. I'm so happy and excited right now - I feel ten again. Thank you Alan Taylor for making this film. You made this fangirl very happy tonight. 5/5

Comet

It's the rare film that strives to do something unique and different. After all, most of the time it seems all the films that could ever be made have already been done, so what's the point of attempting originality? So when I see a film that makes every effort in the world to be unique, to stand out from the rest, I give that film a tremendous amount of credit. However, this film doesn't just strives to be different. It *is* different. I've honestly never seen anything quite like it. It's daring a bold and visually stunning and impactful and honest and beautiful and romantic and tragic, all at once. It's a true triumph of film making and I'm so glad I saw a trailer for it and rented it. This is a true gem in film. Rent this. Now. 5/5

Enemy

This creepy atmospheric thriller has Gyllenhaal at his best - I don't get all the twists but I was thoroughly intrigued. 4/5

Slaughterhouse-Five

Terrible acting & a very uneven plot made this trippy film hard to swallow. Could have been much better. 2/5

Repeaters

This thriller didn't make a lot of sense & had huge plot holes but I was enegaged throughout, so that's something. 3/5

The Tempest

Julie Taymor missed the mark ever so slightly with this retelling but tremendous acting truly saved it. Djimon Hounsou was perfection as Caliban but Mirren not nearly as evil as she should have been. Interesting take. 3.5/5

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Noomi Rapace is miraculous in this dark Swedish thriller that should NOT have been remade! No, seriously... why on earth would anyone even try to remake this, especially with a performance like that? Insane. Truly. 4.5/5
