The Conjuring

Yes, this was a pretty straightforward no-frills basic possession/haunting story. But it was acted quite well by Farmiga and Taylor, and it did legitimately freak me out at times, so it's definitely worth a watch. I'm interested to see the sequel. 3.5/5

Closer to the Moon

This black comedy has great action & acting butt plot that doesn't deliver the emotional depths needed. 3/5

The Judge

Team Downey's first film is a well constructed drama with terrific performances from RDJ & Duvall. Well done. 3.5/5

Goats

A perfectly average comedy, personable & sweet but nothing special. Not even Farmiga was outstanding, so meh. 3/5

At Middleton

Vera Farmiga & Andy Garcia are magical in this tender & endearing romantic dramedy that is ripe with possibility. 4/5

Higher Ground

This is a lovely directorial debut from Vera Farmiga but it never transcends goodness into greatness. 3/5

Henry's Crime

If anyone other than Keanu had starred this might have been savable... as it is, not so much. Barely decent. 2.5/5

Source Code

This sci-fi thriller is well paced, intriguingly written & well acted by all. I guessed it but enjoyed it as well. 4/5

The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas

This movie tries WAY too hard to be clever and fails. I really expected much more from it, If you want to see this type of movie (POV of a young boy witnessing trauma) done right, watch "Romulus, My Father" instead. 3/5
