Free Fire

Frankly, I'm not sure what to make of this film. There really is no plot. There are barely characters, and certainly no real character development. I actually don't think there's a single likeable character in this. On the other hand, it's directed really well and I had a lot of fun watching it. It's witty action comedy, but little else. If you'd like a bit of fun, this might be for you, but if you're looking for any real depth, look elsewhere. 3/5

In the Heart of the Sea

This action/adventure film is bold, to be sure, but it truly works. The tale is epic, and the scope of the sets, CGI, and direction are equally epic. It feels a touch saccharine at times, and at others very dark and tragic. The rather masterful acting really holds this story together and makes for compelling viewing. Better than I expected. 3.5/5

Red Eye

A terribly predictable & ordinary thriller with average directing only saved by decent acting. What gives Wes? 2.5/5

Aloft

Outside of one outstanding scene with Cillian Murphy at the end of this film, no attempt is made to forge any emotional connections between characters or between the film and the audience. Shame. 2.5/5

Broken

What a terribly and tragically beautiful film this is, blending beauty & heartbreak so seamlessly. Just divine. 4.5/5

Red Lights

Yes the ending was remarkable & I hadn't seen it coming, but I'm not sure it was worth the hour forty wait for it. 3/5

In Time

A remarkable idea made rather unremarkable with average weak plot development, but Cillian is still a god. Good enough. 3/5

Inception

Absolutely brilliant - one of the most masterfully constructed films possibly ever made. I loved every minute. 5/5

JimK - 148 minutes. I loved it so much I wish it were LONGER. Also? I choose to believe. 5 stars.

Perrier's Bounty

The entire cast, especially Cillian Murphy, are amazing in this darkly comedic crime thriller. Brilliantly done all the way around. 4/5
